The Family That Stays Together and Plays Together
You Can't "Argue" With Success

The Argues are a country-rock family band fronted by multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters 18-year-old Sabrina and 20-year-old Lauren and backed by mom Chantale on drums and dad Mick on guitar. Though they laugh at how their last name can sum up what might happen when the four artists work together, the band is really committed to each other and their joint projects, as well as what they do individually.

As a university student, Chantale earned money as a lifeguard and one day met a handsome swimmer named Michael who was also studying at that time for his CA. A month after they met, Michael surprised Chantale with a gift for her birthday - an acoustic guitar, along with lessons by him.

A few months later, he followed that up with his first Christmas gift to her, a fishing reel. Fast forward 27 years, and music and fishing are two of the family's main passions!

Chantale graduated with a criminology degree from the University of Toronto and after a short stint in Corrections, she worked as an insurance fraud investigator for close to 15 years before staying home to care for the girls, to help Michael at his office, and to promote and book the family band.

Michael became a Chartered Accountant with his own practice. An accountant by day and a rocker by night, he has commuted daily to his practice in Toronto.

Michael and Chantale married four years after they met and continued to play music together. The girls joined in when they were big enough to sing and then play an instrument, and so their musical journey began.

The Argues, who live in the Centre Vespra area, moved to Springwater from Toronto five years ago. Why?

Lifestyle! They needed more room for their band - a place to park their 15-passenger band van and trailers, a bigger studio and storage for gear. They needed more room to create music together, with countryside, skyscapes and lots of fresh air for inspiration!  They love Simcoe County, Springwater and neighbouring Barrie. Love the people and love the vibe!  Their neighbours have been amazing and have become fans of the band.

As the family settled in their new home in Springwater in early 2013, the girls left public school and started online schooling to allow them more flexibility for their music careers.

Lauren has recently graduated high school and earned a full scholarship to the University of Waterloo. Sabrina continues to study online high school. Both girls are firmly committed to their music and continue to write songs.

The family's Christian faith is important to them and they try to help in the community where and when they can. They have friends at churches all over the Barrie area including Celebration Church, Hope City Church and Emmanuel Baptist where the girls have enjoyed youth groups.

The family is excited to announce that Michael Argue Chartered Accountant Professional Corporation will be opening an office on the beautiful Barrie waterfront with a proposed soft opening date of August 1, 2018. Reducing the daily commute means more time for quality work, service to clients and, of course, music. Maybe Michael will start commuting to the new Barrie office on his Triumph motorcycle with Chantale on the back!

The band has been touring Ontario professionally since 2010 after they recorded a demo at Metalworks Studio. Since then, this family band has performed at countless festivals, events and venues including Kempenfest, Barrie Waterfront Festival and Celebrate Springwater 150 in 2017. The Argues landed in the top 10 of CBC's Searchlight Competition for Central Ontario in 2017 and won Best Country at the Toronto Independent Music Awards in October.

Working as recording artists and touring musicians together is fun and hard work. One of the family's mottos is Get It Done. However, once the work is done, they like to unwind together watching old movies and spending time at their little log cabin up north where they read, fish, paint and write new songs.

The Argues are excited about two new singles written by Sabrina that the band recorded in March! They will be reaching out to Canadian country radio for airplay and are now booking live shows. You can keep up to date on the Argus by visiting their website www.theargues.ca.
